Inspired by the vibrant urban life of Tainan, this project delves into the city's inherent ambiguity—where informal and adaptive spaces thrive, fostering a rich and dynamic urban lifestyle. The Gray Box embodies this concept by creating "gray spaces" that dissolve boundaries, encouraging seamless interactions between architecture and the environment.

Through interventions at multiple scales—from the masterplan for the new Tainan train station to the adaptive reuse of historic Japanese barracks, and even down to interior and furniture design—the project explores how spaces can amplify and integrate with the city’s vibrant energy. It is a celebration of adaptability, informality, and the layered complexity that defines Tainan’s urban fabric.
